With millions of people celebrating Chinese New Year across
the world and talk about 2016 being the Year of the Monkey popping up
everywhere, I went to check up on my Chinese zodiac sign and found that I was
born in the year of the Dragon. Yep, I’m a dragon.
In the Chinese lunar calendar, each year is signified by an animal from the Chinese zodiac cycle. Dragon is the fifth in the 12-year cycle. The Chinese believe the animal ruling one's birth year has a profound influence on personality, and destiny. The saying is: "This animal hides in your heart."
This actually works for me. I believe that all forms of life
on the planet are spiritually connected to each other.
Unlike Western astrology, Chinese astrology does not look the
heavenly constellations or planets to predict one's destiny. Rather, it deals
with divining sciences of wuxing or the five elements (earth, fire, water,
metal, wood), Yin and Yang, Chi, and the cycles of time.
According to legend, the Chinese zodiac signs began when the
Buddha beckoned all the animals to bid him farewell before his departure from
the Earth. Only twelve arrived at his summoning, and so those were given a
place of honour in a year being named after each.
So, I’m a Dragon. Let’s see what that says about my
personality.
Among the 12 animals, dragons are the most fortunate. In
fact, they’re downright lucky! Well, I don’t know about that, but if you say
so…….. :-)
.
.
The Dragon is the most vital and powerful beast in the
Chinese zodiac. They are the doers of the world. They don’t sit around waiting
for things to happen; they make them happen. You can always count on the
no-nonsense dragon to take charge - and take risks. Their fiery enthusiasm and
forceful nature rule.
So far so good………….
Dragons want things done their way. They demand perfection
from themselves and from others. Even though the dragon must have the last
word, he is quick to forgive. Holding grudges will slow him down. Instead of
following tradition, they strive for a smooth future. Although the dragon’s
magnanimous spirit draws a crowd, he has few close friends.
However, the dragon is sometimes regarded as aggressive and
angry dragons are not open to criticism. They have the infamous reputation for
being a hothead and possessing a sharp tongue. They are also a bit arrogant and
impatient.
I could have done without the last part :-)).
Anyway, those who know me will know better whether any of the traits describe
me at all.
So, what is your Chinese zodiac sign? Go here and find out.
