Life is a one-time offer

Life is a one-time offer - use it well!

How about that for bumper sticker wisdom? Have you noticed that there is a surprising amount of real good insight and wisdom to be gleaned from bumper stickers? Simple and usually with a humorous twist, they grab your attention and make you think.

Here in Nagaland, these rectangular stickers that people like to plaster all over their cars have not really caught on. I’ve seen a few, but they’re mostly blah stuff – like ‘I love my Nagaland’ (don’t we all?) and ‘Nagaland, the land of festivals’ (how boring!)…..others are just ad stickers for a church, an organisation or an event. Really, where’s our imagination?

I quite like the idea of using the bumper sticker to spread a message, making a statement about something that you care about, or just putting a thought out there for someone to ponder upon.

Life is a one-time offer - use it well!

It’s a great reminder that we only get this one life………and it is too short to not live it to the fullest!

It’s tough just making through each day and it’s easy to forget the limited time we have on this earth. We make our lives so full of the problems and trivial things that we forget the important things. We put off doing something that really matters because we all assume we have enough time to do it yet. We don’t show the ones we love how much we love them often enough because we assume there’s always tomorrow. We live in fear – afraid of failure, of what others would think or say.

Death is a certainty that none of us can avoid. What is not a certainty is the quality of our lives while we’re alive!

Well, there’s no right or wrong, but one thing’s for sure - there won’t be anyone at the end of it all checking off a list of what others expected of you. Do the things that matter to you and make your life matter! Step up for who you are and what you believe in. Pursue your dreams – you’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try. (I’ve borrowed that bit from Dolly Parton). Stop making excuses, there’s always a way. Carpe Diem - Seize the day!

Another thought I love by Uta Hagen - Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary.

And all these from a bumper sticker…………..
